Chapter 5

Charmaine whistled as he ran a finger alongside the shiny black Austin Martin. The real gold trim made it all the more fancy. He had a moment of panic as his thoughts moved along the lines of him wrecking the car and ruining an amazing gift.

He hopped into the driver's seat and the panic ensued. How could he drive a classic such as this out into the crazy traffic he was about to enter? He admired its pristine beauty, knowing that Mother hardly drove the car herself but kept it in good shape in honor of her deceased husband. It was all just a bit much and he was not sure he could go through with it.

He took a series of deep breaths before starting the engine. Carefully, he pulled out of the garage and out into the busy streets. So far so good. Helping himself to some fine dining or at least to him it was, he ate and drank quickly, feeling like he was doing something wrong while doing so.

He stood against a pillar and watched people as they milled about. Everyone was lost in their own little fantasy world while he stood by like a statue watching the scenes. It all just felt so fake to him and the only thing he wanted was to get out of there. As if he weren't already feeling stifled a man that he knew all too well came right up to him.

“Charmin!” a familiar voice called out. “Do my eyes deceive me or am I seeing the TP boy?” The booming voice called out again, even though he was only a foot from him. Charmaine was relieved that the place was filled with
